Lung Transplant Overview

Lung transplantation is a new treatment option for end stage lung disease. It was started by Dr James Hardy in 1963 from Mississippi, USA. It was the discovery of cyclosporine and development of better surgical techniques by the Toronto Lung transplant team that led to the success from 1980. This program started in India in 1999 by Dr K M Cherian from Chennai.
